Hi, I'm running ads on bing and google in several formats. How can I tell which ones are buying my product and which ones aren't?
I'd like to know so I can fine tune my advertising
thanks

I don't know about Bing, but Google allows you do do conversion tracking from within Adwords. In it's most simple form you stick some conversion tracking code on the Thank You for your purchase page after they have made payment.

Have a look for conversion tracking in your Adwords help. With a bit of work and some time you should be able to work out best keywords, target locations and ad treatments.

Definitely look into conversion tracking. Basically you put a code on the pages that only customers that purchased something would be, such as the payment page, or the Successful Payment page. Then you can look at those "Conversions" in your AdWords account to look deeper and see where they are coming from, what trends you notice, and ultimately optimize your campaign to increase those conversions.

      cool, thanks.
I wonder, since my products are multiple downloads on the same page, if each time the user comes back to that page (which they only pay for once, then have full access), if the tracking system will recount each visit, or only count the first visit?

    1. Set a goal conversion in analytics. Set your final destination page, either "thank you page" or "payment confirmation page" in the goal url.
    2. By default google traffic can be tracked in the analytics.
    3. To track visitors from bing/ppc use google's url builder to get the source in analytics

By setting these 3 steps you can easily track the website sales and its source in google analytics.
