Anything new in 2013? Which is better and why?

Hypothetical...

DogTrainer.info
Dog-Trainer.com
TheDogTrainer.com

(Assume that DogTrainer.com is already registered.)

EDIT:
Or, let's say you have AnimalStuff.com... would you do just as well to create a page called AnimalStuff.com/dogtrainer.html ?

EMD is not as good as it used to..

    However, I would take "TheDogTrainer.com"...

It ends with.com and does not have any hyphens.

    Depends on what you use.

I would say go with brandable domain name. Easier to remember.

As online only mentioned, EMD has been devalued.

So, EMD has been devalued. Does that mean it has no value when you just create a page on your (related) site with the same key phrase? What about this question I posted...

Create a brand, something which people can associate you with. There's no point going generic & EMD if you're actually attempting to showcase your expertise. If it's just promoting a clickbank product, then an EMD is fine I'd say.

If you want to showcase your talents, your expertise, then create a brand. You've heard of the Dog Whisperer right? He didn't call himself the "Dog Expert" because it isn't as brandable.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

I'd completely agree with Icematikx on this point create a brand name, not a domain. The big example is GoDaddy, do you think it seems to be a domain and hosting company by any point of looking at domain name? No it not, but everyone knows yes it is.

Also consider domain that contains related keywords or keyword synonyms.

    DoggieSchool.com
    PetCollege.com

If you plan to feature videos, consider:

    DogSchool.tv

If you use a .tv extension, consider changing the geo-target setting in Google Webmaster Tools to "United States".

A .com domain is king but I do love me some catchy .tv domains.

You mean to have .tv domain as your one and only domain or do you mean in addition to .com? Why not just put videos on the .com?

And, my business is 100% in USA, what all I need to do to market only to U S citizens?

Sorry, I should have said that I would only get the .tv domain when the .com domain is not available, and when the related .com site won't be confused with my .tv site.

I'd go with something brandable and memorable:

    woofschool.com is available
barkinguniversity.com is available (my favourite, catering for elite dogs who want a good education)
    getoutofityouhairymutt.com is available

My preference is for .coms. People tend to forget the extension and assume .com
