Question About Google Ads and Remarketing

Hi everyone.

Google Ads is one of the few areas I've never really touched, so I know very little about it. Hoping you can help me with a question.

In a nutshell, I'd like to know if remarketing can be used on sites that would otherwise have no shot at making money with Adsense. Let me give you a hypothetical.

Let's say I had a fansite for Bruce Springsteen. It gets a lot of traffic but I can't really make money with Adsense because the CPC for keywords related to Bruce would be so low, and many of them wouldn't even be allowed by Google.

But could I use the Google Display Network instead? In other words, could I set up my Springsteen fansite to display ads based on what visitors have seen on visits to other sites? And I mean exclusively. So no context ads based on the site's content. Just ads that are releveant to individuals based on their previous browsing online.

So a site that allows only remarketing type ads and nothing else. If this is possible, it would allow a lot of niche sites to make a little money where before, if you could only show context-related ads, making money would have been impossible.

Thanks for taking the time to read my question!

Why not just ask for visitors to pay you a fee to display their ads on your site?

I can now assume you are lost.

You mention google ads...then as an alternative, the display network.

I had to read the post many times. It is clear that YOU want to put
      google ads on your site.

Which means, the whole post makes no sense.

You need to use adsense as part of the display network.
That's the only way you would get google ads on your site.

How else were you going to get google ads on your site?

Google does not place ads on your site based on one thing.
The Boss would garner a whole lot of ads about music and related
artists. Not to mention the general public ads that large bidders buy.

Since you think adsense, google ads, and the display network are
separate distinct things, you do need to do more research.

Now if you had a million visitors a month, you could become a
google partner and jump to the head of the line.

To put it simply: When you join Google Ads/Adsense, you are joining the Google Display network (same thing).

Next, No, you can't decide if you would only like Retargeting Ads to be shown and completely remove contextual ads. Google decides what to show.

Last, it would not matter, since Google runs an auction, if keywords about "Bruce Springsteen" would carry a too low CPC, it would automatically show better performing and higher CPC, RT ads on your site.

If you have good volumes of traffic, you could also join an ad exchange directly which has real-time bidding.
