SEO; Why it isn't working for me?

Hi Warriors,
i am SEO biz 4-5 years now (part time). I was out of biz for 6-7 months (i was in Swiss, student exchange program). But now i am back and i worried that my old strategies are useless now.
So can anybody here update me on current Off-page seo situation. I hve read that blog comment, forums, profiles, article directories, web 2.0 etc are all useless only Guest blogging seems to work. But Guest blogging costs too much.
Any insights, feeling like a newbie

Thank you in advance.

What I saw is you haven't mentioned latest update Panda and Penguin, these two are very hard to overcome.. so you should read about Penguin update as well, so that you would know how to do link building.

???? In what way are they "hard to overcome"?

These algorithm changes to not make ranking a website hard. They just make wasting your time on cheap low value links more of a waste of time. But surely you knew that would always happen anyway? it was just a matter of time.

There are MANY ways to do well in Google and people share that information here all the time.

I pointed that out on another SEO forum thread, people building junk Amazon sites (latest fad), then acting like they're confused when Google does an algo. change.

Keep in mind that desperation is the source of many of these websites, so the people behind them don't always read the rules.

Make your links look natural, a mix of dofollow and nofollow links make look your link natural. Do not use your exact keyword as anchor text for link building. Do not add too much of links in a short period of time.

Private blog networks would work always, provided they are not spammed, have unique C class IP, low OBL, quality content and good PR.

The main change was probably about the increased prominence of social signals and online reputation. Quantity and quality of social signals on the one hand, and Google+ authorship on the other have a significant impact on SEO (even though social links aren't the main contributors to a backlink profile).

As for regular links, after Penguin latest update contextual links from niche relevant sites came to the fore. Overall, main things to consider are relevancy and social presence, that's why some old techniques, like press releases are now supposed to bring benefits rather in terms of outreach than SEO as such.

Give people that is interesting, Use blogging, Free blogging platform and setup blogs on your niche and promote those blogs (promoting blogs on free blogging platform is easier) - you can easily get SERP for those blogs. Then, drive referral traffic from those blogs.... It requires lots of writing and lots of promotions, but it worth.

Re-evaluate your website, especially your on page seo. Then remove all possible bad/spam backlinks and just continue building more quality links. Also update yourself of the latest SEO strategies based from G algo updates.

How many of you know how and why SEO/SEM even began? Just asking! It's an industry entirely built on deception. BTW Google is not required to access the Internet. Stop kissing their ass and jump off the Google Bandwagon!

Recently I put on a monkey suit and stood on the side of the road with a sign that had the same message on as the adwords message and it drove 3200% more traffic to a landing page in an hour than an adwords campaign did in three weeks.

SMS Marketing, 98% open rate, and 95% read in the first 5 minutes. SEO/SEM was developed by marketers trying to promote pornography in the early 90's, most in the business today don't even know why they do what they do.

Bottom line, Google is one page digital Yellow Pages that has a 999 other pages that nobody bothers to visit. Mobile is the equalizer. I wrote 12500 words on the crack in Google's armor. You can have it for the asking on my main site..

If you had a real monkey you would have hit 6,400% more traffic than Adwords.

Automated link building software is NOT a smart thing to engage in. Rather than spamming the internet with crap, start focusing on your brand (or your client's).

Why waste your time building massive amounts of low-quality links when you can be gaining PR and essentially new customers?!

Let your content (AND content sharing) take care of the link building.

Who told you web 2.0 sites are dead? Someone who was slapped by penguin?

Guestposts are not expensive if they are successful for you they more than pay for themselves.

But that's a massive generalisation which is not true.

That's like saying that because someone carrying a gun got stopped by the police - everyone should stay inside because "the police are arresting people in the street".

Google does not care about whether you're using web 2.0 or not - they care about whether their results are filling with crap.

The reason many web 2.0 stuff got slapped was not because it was web2.0 but because it was low quality crap thrown up because it's free to do it.

The reason many people used web 2.0 properties was precisely because they didn't value their content enough to want to pay for their own domains, and thought throwing it up to as many places as possible was going to make Google give them extra traffic and link juice.

Google aint stupid and if you abuse ANY system you can bet they'll start looking at how to stop you.

Web 2.0 stuff can still rank very well. Web2.0 is not broken. Abusing Web2.0 properties to try and manipulate Google is what's broken, and that was never going to surprise anyone - surely?

SEO is not for everyone. If I read those WF threads all day long it seems that 90% of people are penalized/de-indexed/out of top 500.

... and that's quite common issue when people are using pre 2011 strategies like one page web2.0s, automated softwares, public private networks, blog comments, social bookmarks, forum profiles, AMR, stuffing their keywords everywhere, publishing rubbish content etc...

Buying domains that already have authority and PR is a fantastic way to rank websites in today's algorithm (and that's not changing anytime soon either).

Although, it can be kinda expensive.

Not to "promote" my service, it really is the reason why I setup a new service with high PR links for people. The old tactics of getting 100's of low quality links aren't as great as they use to be.

But getting just a few high pagerank links does WONDERS for your rankings, new or old.

Hi Amiramin, firstly you should know about the latest penguin and panda updates. Every time the SEO techniques will be changing, so you cannot depend on same techniques which you have followed. Definately off page strategies like article submission, Directory submission, socal bookmarking are not useless, they are meant for getting quality and quantity backlinks.
