Hi,

We've started to use cloakhosting for a blog network, however they have set the nameservers as ###.websitewelcome.com, where ### is a number.

Wouldn't having virtually the same nameserver for all the sites create a bit of a footprint?

Thanks

Steve

Doesn't make a difference even if they used private nameservers as the records still translate back to the same hostname. websitewelcome is HostGator also..

      Hi,

      Thanks for the reply.

But regardless of where it resolves to wouldn't having the same nameservers rather than personalised ones mean a footprint for the big G?

Remember this is supposed to be a private blog network.

      Thanks

Personalized nameservers are there for "human" knowledge. The end point is the same exact place & has absolutely zero affect on anything. If you're trying to give the illusion that your sites are all not related, I'd recommend using multiple web hosts vs this "cloakhosting" because they aren't cloaking anything..

Aah, so the actual nameserver doesn't matter, it's the ip address it goes to that does?

Correct - some people feel the IP matters & some people feel it doesn't matter. I will not get into that however.

**.websitewelcome.com which indicate to hostgator reseller is not good. All of your website will be in the same network, So it is Huge footprint. Using Multiple location hosting is good idea.
