Hey Guys,

I became a pro at articles! I knew the best directories, I had a great spinning system, but now with the new penguin update I think I may be a dinosaur in my strategy. SO i ask you guys these questions.

1. HOW effective is article submissions now? What if you only submit to a high PR site like Ezines only? What if you only submit to Ezines then spin and submit the rest to the junk sites? Is it now really that ineffective?

2. So what now, if we can't do articles, its just comments? Doesn't that allow xrummer and seonuke style players to win? Perhaps I am missing something...

3. Is there easy to use software out there that makes blog commenting easy? Something that allows you to easy see what blogs actually allow you to comment, what blogs are relative, and what blogs actually ALLOW you to insert a link back to your site? Im sure there must be something.

So if someone can also BREAK IT DOWN as to what we are to do, in detail, it would be much appreciated. Please don't respond with generic general stuff, I want specific stuff about how to thrive in this post penguin era... and please don't respond by saying "through hard work and more backlinks"... please provide specifics and techniques so fellow warriors can take and apply or learn.

THANK YOU!!!!

Largely speaking, the reason people aren't running to answer your questions is because the answers are pretty self-evident once you spend some time reading SEO Forums.

    1. HOW effective is article submissions now? What if you only submit to a high PR site like Ezines only? What if you only submit to Ezines then spin and submit the rest to the junk sites? Is it now really that ineffective?
How long is a piece of string?

Article directories have been garbage (for the most part) for years now. People still use them but most don't. Spinning and junk sites is fine if you understand parasites and BH tiered linking, link spam etc.

You don't fit that category. It's obvious. In fact, you are so far from that that you should probably spend you time building relationships with other bloggers, interview them, get to know them and then guest blog on their website.

You can submit guest posts to 'Write for us' websites if you want, but it seems like learning the A, B, C's of extreme WH SEO would probably be a better way for you to go. Especially once we get down to the later questions...

    2. So what now, if we can't do articles, its just comments? Doesn't that allow xrummer and seonuke style players to win? Perhaps I am missing something...
Not to be a massively rude dick, but yes you are missing something. If you think link building is ONLY article submission OR link spam - then you really need to spend time learning new ways to build links.

There's no nice way to say it - you need to read forums and figure it out like everyone else has done.

Once you spend 4-6 months getting just the basics down, choose a path. Will you be a link spammer? Will you write for every guest post site you can find? Will you buy links from blog networks? Will you run 20 link spamming servers? ( Inside joke on 20 servers, it's just meant to impress you.)

The bottom line is that you need to learn the basics and then choose a path.

I build links different that Mike Anthony. Mike and I build links differently than Yukon. Yukon, Mike and I build links differently than nik0. Yet to some degree, we are all effective (or at least we think we are).

So, figure out the basics, choose a path. If you want the basics spoon feed to you - that's insulting to anyone who put the time into learning themselves and whatever answer you get would be colored to a degree by who was answering.

    3. Is there easy to use software out there that makes blog commenting easy? Something that allows you to easy see what blogs actually allow you to comment, what blogs are relative, and what blogs actually ALLOW you to insert a link back to your site? Im sure there must be something.
    Have you even bothered looking?

      Hi GodOverYou,

Thanks for the reply, the thing is that I have spent 3+ years learning the old method of doing things. So rather then waste 6+ months why not ask others who have everything summarized to help others? That is the whole point of forums in my opinion, share information to help others not tell them "Tough luck bud, go find it yourself".

So basically you didn't really say anything, you basically apologized for being a dick then proceeded to BEING a dick in your responses. Then ended with the "Go read the forums and whatever you decide works for you will work for you"... which is useless and what most of these forums are riddled with.

Surely there must be some DECENT warriors who can have a DECENT discussion and summary of effective tactics.

Can't you see them rushing in to answer?

Obviously the problem is me (the guy with the thanked post), not your questions. Obviously...

Honestly guest posting is the most effective link building tactic I have come across. Then building some good web 2.0 properties, with original quality content. Press releases are still useful. That is as far as my happy Google dance goes. Then I just post regular links in high traffic areas to get my sites seen by real instant visitors. I have NOT been pentalized, and my sites do well.

The problem is that you don't have the slightest clue what article syndication is. Here is a useful tip for you: use the search option, and look up the posts from Alexa Smith

Woah.. the duches have come out to play in this thread.

Article marketing used to be really effective, but the old methods of it are broken.

You can't just post a bunch of articles to a load of different directories and get traffic back to your site... which is what everyone article marketing USED to do and it worked great for traffic, short term and long term.

Now day if you're doing article marketing you're betting off writing less articles in putting them in the right places, like guest posting.
