From an SEO standpoint do Ezinearticles still work?

Hi,

I have seen some of my ezinearticle backlinks getting indexed and start to gain PR themselves and I was wondering do they still work in terms of boosting rankings? I know they can drive traffic to your site but I just want to know of peoples experience in terms of a ranking boost. It makes sense to me, given the fact that they only accept well written articles and will only allow relevant links. Any ideas?

    Yes submitting content to ezine helps boost your ranking as well as get you direct visits as well.

    I tend to look at article sites as more of a traffic method. Though I've really scaled back on writing for article sites. (Most of the content goes straight to my own sites now.)

    I did enjoy the days of writing a well optimized article, submitting it to ezine, throwing a few backlinks at it, and ranking on page 1 quickly.

    Seamy, imo ezinearticles is a waste of time for both backlinks and traffic. I gave it a fair shot, these are my stats from about the last 1-2 years.

    Article Views 946
    Article Clicks 42
    Article CTR 4.44%
    Profile Views 75
    Emailed 1
    Comments 2

    16 articles for 42 visitors has to be the worst ROI ever.

    There's not good content on the site, it's basically made for backlinks, so naturally the links are extremely weak. At best I would recommend doing a little bit of article marketing simply to diversify your backlink profile. Your time would be better spent writing some really interesting articles and finding bloggers in your niche to write for.

    As more and more people are using Ezine for getting 'quality' backlink, EA is loosing its creditability to writer community as well as to Google. And this loss was very much noticeable when the Panda update rolled from Google.

    So I would suggest not to submit your article again and again to EA, instead look for other back sources which will help to diversify your backlink profile and make your website Google update proof.

    Ezine article accepts only unique and well written articles, as per my experience it helped me to gain backlinks.

    Article directories are not performing good these days so what I would say that use those sites which were not penalized from Google updates.

        I can understand wanting to submit articles and link back to your site. But, in the long run, you are much better off using the content ON your site.

        I guess if you want to get a little black hat you can write a handful of articles and spin them for the article directories.

      So if you had, say 100 unique well written articles, you'd put them all on your own website? You wouldn't use any in your private blog network, web 2.0 sites or article directories?

      Once they get indexed on your own site, Ezine won't accept them. With them being duplicate content and that.

    The straight SEO value from ezines is quite low now, maybe if you had an old article that was popular it might help if people are linking to it. But at stock value on a newly published article the value is very low from an SEO standpoint. But if you have a well written article that is a popular read your likely to get more views + traffic.

    Ahhh... the good old times of article marketing paying off. I pose this question. When was the last time you did a Google search and ended up at any Article site? The recent updates made them quite obsolete... imho.

    Whether or not they help much with SEO anymore is debatable.

    However, submitting an article to eZine articles will get your linked content indexed almost immediately!

    Also, if the article is well written and contains a keyword rich title there is a good chance the article itself will rank and bring you traffic through your resource box.
