Can you make money with solo ads?

I always get a bunch of questions about solo ads from people and the two common ones that tend to follow each other are...

What are the conversions like? Can you make money with solo ads?

I am going to attempt to keep this as short as possible while still explaining what my answer to this always is...

What are conversions like?...

"Conversions for solos are typically 0.25-1% (if your funnel is good & proven). Your goal should be to get to 1% and if you can exceed that then you are doing really good. But 1% is not going to do you much good if you are selling $17 products because it is simple math...

100 clicks cost lets say .50 cents to make the math easy since I'm lazy. That's $50 you spent on a solo and with a 1% conversion at $17 you just lost $33"

Can you make money with solo ads?

"Of course you can but dont expect the quality to be as good as affiliate traffic, buyer list traffic, FB PPC or any other form of targeted paid traffic. To be honest it is the lowest form of semi targeted traffic out there.

But you shouldn't be buying solos to make a huge amount of money it should just be for lead gen so that you can come close to breaking even and then make money on the backend so you are thinking about this the wrong way my friend "

Hope that was short enough & hope this info helps any of you that are looking to buy or that are buying solos.

Most definitely man! People get never set the right expectations with them because they don't understand. Solos are great to build a list and much easier then other forms of paid traffic but you have to realize it is lower quality a well.

Solos are always good route to make some initial sales. When you are doing SEO for your site you can minimize SEO cost using solo ads. Even though low quality solos are not going to help you. There are tons of add providers who are providing 1000 clicks for just 50$. Dont trust those guys. Go for quality solo ad providers. They might provide you 100 clicks for 50$. But this is worth of your investment.

Actually you can get much higher sales conversions with solo ads. It simply depends on the type of list, and more importantly the provider.

I have gotten as high as 14%, which was very profitable with a low tier product.

Here's why solo ads don't work for a lot of people... Because they are sending an offer to a provider's subscriber list with something that's being sent to the list over and over again. For instance, prepaid legal services. Why would you send your prepaid legal service offer to a list where the subscribers are seeing other prepaid legal offers every week?

And when this happens, you can expect a very low percentage of conversions, if any at all.

But if the list is a "buyer's list" of subscribers, and you have a good offer that's congruent to what these buyers previously bought (such as offering home security services to a list of people who recently purchased a new home), then you can expect a much higher conversion rate.

But it is usually more expensive to mail buyers lists than typical subscriber lists, but it can still be very profitable, even with a low tier offer.

The challenge these days is finding a good trusted solo ad provider. Because to me, getting leads means nothing if they never buy. And since I personally market low tier products, I expect 2% conversions on the front-end, and at least another 3-4% over time.

Yes it's possible to get a 14% conversion with solos but unless it is a buyers list or a solo not in the make money online niche those results most likely will not happen.

I have bought thousands & thousands of clicks from solo ads and know a lot of solo sellers so I feel pretty confident in saying that.

It seems like you buy solos in a non MMO niche so that is completely different from the expectations I am talking about.

In general I do agree a worthless lead is a worthless lead & also about offers being congruent as long as it's still in the same niche. But a worthless funnel also wont convert well even with buyers list traffic.
