1) Is the duration you register a domain/ web hosting for an SEO factor?

2) Following on from that, is it just the domain name that is a factor or does hosting duration also have an effect?

3) Does having a HTML website have any advantages over a CMS such as WordPress? The only thing I can think of is load speed, this is not a preference questions. Debating between the two at the moment.

1: Yes, the longer your site has been around, it will be seen as better. (sometimes)

2: The domain name has some ranking effects, and the hosting duration does not really effect it unless you have lots of lapses where your site is down.

3: HTML websites are better for customizing and adding this and that without using plugins. Using WP, you have to rely on plugins for SEO rather then just editing your code yourself.

    1. As @PROmotions LLC has stated, generally the older your domain the better. But in addition to this, registering a domain name for a longer period of time in the future is said to also be a trust factor.

    2. If you decide to go with a CMS, certain hosts will hurt your website load speed, which is another website ranking factor. For example, GoDaddy has a history of being a terrible host for Joomla websites.

    3. If you have a custom WordPress template built, then you can really do anything that you want. This is because the website is first built in HTML, and then converted to WordPress.

In addition, if you are not familiar with Dreamweaver or FTP, I would highly recommend using WordPress, even if you just buy a pre-made WordPress template.

    1. Matt Cutts said No to this in a Google SEO video but I say yes.

    2. A keyword-rich domain name have more advantage in SEO than a non-keyword/brand name domain.

    3. Yes in load speed as you said. But I highly suggest going for a CMS due to its ease of management. I only choose HTML for my 1 page landing pages.

Yes, the age of the domain and the time it's been around in search engines' index influences your rankings. Web hosting is not affecting your rankings in any way (just make sure it's fast and has reasonable uptime).

Search engine rankings are not actually affected by the CMS you use. If your site has 5-10 pages you may get with pure HTML and if the site is going to have lots of pages and you are going to update it often - then opt for a CMS.
