Hello All,

Are you going to get slapped pretty hard if you offer a "free" ebook but require them to opt-in?

If yes, is there a way to structure your ads to not get slapped as well as how you should structure your squeeze page.

Thanks
Matt

honest question, why would google care?

based on what you've stated, the book is in fact free provided the visitor provides you with some contact info.

You'd get in more trouble saying each 100th visitor "wins" a free something.

I don't know why google would care. But I had read that from someone I just can't remember who said it, I think it was Ryan Deiss. If I am remembering right what he said was that if you offer something for free that it would need to be instantly downloadable off the site....no opt ins.

But then again that does not really make sense either because what if they were offering a free sample of a hard product. They would have to capture some information to mail out the product.

      Thanks

Yes, that was Perry Belcher in Ryan Deiss's "Wholesale Traffic Secrets"

The idea is that for Google, email addresses have value. In other words, "free" and "the price is opt in" are two different things.

So the question remains of whether or not your are going to get slapped or not. Does anyone have experience or insight on using adwords and using "free" to capture leads. And if so how to structure it.

I was wondering about this as well. I am still unclear on this.
Is there anything in their terms of service that indicates otherwise?
Does anyone have any experience with this issue?
