Hi guys i was 1st and totally domainated my nich for 5 months, after penguin i dropped to 5th position then 2 weeks later 9th then 3 weeks later12th then 15th and 18th now im gutted was my main sauce of income.

I have not had any type of warning through webmaster tools im guessing its algorithmic and not a manual link penalty.

I had 23% main keyword anchor text i think that was my dropping reason, However a guy who claims to be a expert says he can get my rankings back by balancing out my link profile and also getting rid of toxic links and using ( Disavow Tool) i think it might be a bit of a gamble however my site traffic is almost dead so now its not really a big gamble, He says we may get a full recovery in 30 to 60 days. We are not asking for a google reconsideration request but just Disavowing the crap.

I know some guys say only do it as a last option but for a example what if a guy spams your site with thousands or harmful links do you spend months trying to manually remove them? i guess not. I'm sure you would Disavow them as soon as possible thats what i would do any way. If this works then i think its a really effective tool does any one have any experiance with this tool were you have used it without getting a link penalty warning? and you have bounced back? Most guys only use it when getting a link penalty warning. However i think its getting more popular, Either way i will keep you updated on what happens. For the guys that think i should try and contact webmaster to get the links removed i would just like to say its a few thousand links and that would be fighting a losing battle and im not a loser my aim is to get my cash back on track fast. Also when using the Disavow tool only and not using a reconsideration request you do not have to show google you have tried to contacted webmaster and made a effort because your not using a reconsideration request. My fingers are crossed it works the guy who is doing it for me seems very confident it will work and says he has done it before thanks guys let me know if any one has tried it my way without no link penalty warning message thanks.

  • Chillking,

It may be tedious work contacting a webmaster to get thousands of links removed but that is exactly what Google wants you to do. If you just submit a text file full of links with no evidence that you have tried to get the links removed on your own, Google will just ignore it.

It is likely that people have told you it is a last resort tool because that is how Google views it. Google thinks it is better (and the ideal way) to have links removed manually rather than have them disavow the links. There are posts out there on the web of SEO’s who have had to go through the disavow process and it doesn’t appear easy. Its not as if its simply submitting the file. These guys spent a lot of time contacting people, documenting what they were doing and when it didn’t work, that is when Google will step in to help.

Here is some detailed info on what is required when you submit a reconsideration request as well as a disavow request,
