Is adding nofollow to pdf links necessary?

I do not know if this thread has been repeated in this forum or not. I guess not.

I was wondering to know if it is necessary to include rel="nofollow" tag to the links that point to pdf files (from SEO point of view). I do not think link juice of homepage will pass to the document file if the links are dofollow. Or will it?

Just wanted to make these things clear. Thanks.

Are you asking about the links inside the PDF file or to the PDF file itself?

If it is for PDF file itself, it is up to you to add no-follow tag or leave it as it is, since PDF are treated as a HTML files by Google there'll be a flow of link juice.

    Who cares?

I always dofollow my links unless I'm pointing them to hacked hentai porn site.

Thank you for the response. So, link juice does pass to pdf files. Then, I will nofollow it.
