How does leaving a comment become a sitewide link?

So I left a comment on a blog a few months ago with a link pointing back to my website.

And when I check my backlink stats I found out I was getting over 100 sitewide links pointing back to my site from that one comment.

Can someone explain to me how that is possible?

That blog may have default "Recent Comments" widget on its sidebar or footer widgets, so that could be the reason why you're getting site-wide links, because widgets are loaded on inner pages.

the website owner should be active the sidebar of the latest comments. Don't worry too much, if the website PR is very high.
P.S: Don't use blog comments as the backlinks strategy.

This shouldn't be a problem.. Moreover, you can make it fast disappear (just write 3-4 comments (as many as you need to get your 1st website "disappear" from their sitewide!) and use only your name or a random name, but do NOT link them to any of your websites!) // This should do the trick!
