What other channels should I use for backlinking to my "lawyers" niche website?

Hello Warriors,

I have a website with about 20 high-quality, informative articles (dripfeed) in a particular highly targeted segment in the "lawyers" niche. I'm going to be using AdSense to monetise the website. The [search] volume is there. I have an EMD to add to it. The site looks pretty neat, loads pretty quick, and the 3 AdSense ad units placed are not intrusive. In fact, there's only one ad unit above the fold (on the sidebar). I'm using WordPress as the platform for the site. I'll be adding more articles to the website, on a regular basis.

So now that we have taken care of that... I'm looking for ideas on what I could do to build backlinks.

A few things running at the top of my mind are:
1. Internal Linking
2. Submission to RSS Feed aggregators (no clue how many people will even subscribe, but hey I'm not spamming and these are still backlinks that at least get crawled by the search engines)
3. Press Release(s)
4. Commenting under news articles in the same niche segment as mine
5. Create a video and upload to YouTube (or use TubeMogul)

Things (I think as of now) I can't do:
> Blog/Forum commenting: There are hardly any blogs and forums in the particular niche segment. Most blogs are run by law firms (obvious, huh?) and have no "comments" sections.
> Guest posts: Same reason as above.
> Yahoo! Answers: This could (maybe) bring in some direct traffic, but no backlink value. I'm not sure this is even worth spending time on this niche. Most questions I see seem very very basic (gives me an idea that they're posted by my competitors )

So, I have the above listed 5 ideas for backlinking. What else can I do to build more backlinks to the site? I know about anchor text variation, niche relevance, etc. Niche relevance is why I'm stuck. Otherwise, I could comment on tech blogs all day long and link my lawyers site. Sounds dumb to me, unless anyone has a different experience.

Help a warrior out guys. Thanks a BIG ton, in advance.

Build your own private blog network for links.

Create a sort of directory of lawyers categorized by region and specialty, Ask them what info they would like featured on your site and their availability to create self-promotional articles that will increase their exposure (offer them free hosting, whatever else you can do for them and create a relationship).

Once you create a relationship and bounce a couple of messages, ask them to link to you in either their resources page or give them some kind of graphically pleasing award "Featured in Mysite" kind of badge that they can post in their site and look great.

Another idea.. Create a software that will help lawyers or their clients and give it away for free. If there's enough value in it, people will reference it and you will get quality links

Another one... Create a stunning infographics (I'm pretty sure you will find a lot of statistical data in this niche) and distribute it. Try to get your infographics featured in sites similar to yours.

Here's yet another one.. Most lawyer sites don't have a forum. You can convince them of the utility of having that and they could link to a section in your forum that you dedicated especially for them.

    Make an iphone app...

Host interviews with lawyers, webmasters and book authors. Ask them to link to the interview hosted on your website.

And... I guess that's enough to get you going. These are the types of links that will actually help you from trusted sites in your niche.

Lawyers niche? Are you a lawyer? I can't imagine who would
need a lawyer niche except a lawyer. And a lawyer would not
      be worrying about SEO.

Your site probably has no reason to exist, except for IM.

And I can't even imagine IM.

I should start a site in the brain surgeon niche. Sound silly?
Of course it does. But I can hear the whispers..."Yeah
      brain surgeon site! I'm hip!...."

Paul, it's a free world. Anyone can start a website about anything they like. You don't need to be an expert to start a website that's useful to people and does well in the search engines.

Although OP is probably on the wrong path with EMDs and 20 "quality articles" that are drip fed...

Paul, I know what you mean. But, there's an area in the niche where I can provide helpful tips to people who are searching for such information before speaking to a lawyer. I'm doing my research, and have my disclaimers in place.

Gabriel, I like the Infographics and the directory ideas. Thanks

20 articles is what I have right now. I plan to add more content to the site. But with 20 articles, if I can't get any organic traffic, it may not be worth spending any more time on it. I'd appreciate if this thought of mine needs correction.
