Best place to add social buttons on a page?

Does anyone think by placing "share on facebook" or twitter buttons directly at the end of an article will help people to share an article? I have social buttons at the top of each page like most sites but wondering if placing larger buttons directly under the last sentence in each article might get more people to share a page.

Has anyone experimented with changing the location of social buttons and noticed a large increase of shares?

    No, directly at the top, either below or above title.

    Large buttons just get in the way.

      I think at the bottom with small buttons is best.

        Nobody should put share buttons at the bottom.
        Unless, you have them also:

          Western countries: Big button (don't go nuts in size...) top left corner.
          Arab countries: Big button, top left corner.

          And.

          Small buttons under article with a catchy "Be a good guy and share this awesome article on...XXX"

    I do both top and bottom small icons and i also like a floating sharebar when it's available.
