where is a good place to start for moving up in search engines ? our site is 6 months old and one of the key words is on page 3 of google search . i dont know if thats good start but whats the best way to get to the first page ?are other key words are on page 6 ...keywords that i use are ...air plants,airplants, airplant,

    Sounds like you are doing pretty good. Your goal should be to slowly move up in ranking until you're on page one, hopefully in the top 3. I would take whatever SEO efforts you have been implementing so far, and maybe double it, and see what kind of results you get.

    I think the best place to start is with the website itself. Make sure all of your pages are optimized for target keyword that you are going after. Make sure your site loads fast and that it is easy to navigate. Also make sure you have useful content on the pages and that it is not too thin.

    Here is a good resource of on-page best practices,
    On-Page Ranking Factors - SEO Best Practices - Moz

    After you have that squared away, I would focus on building inbound links to your website.
