Hi,

I was wondering do I have to use blog comments for backlinks? A lot of people say they are needed for link profile variation but I really do not want to point cr*p like this at my money site. The same goes for profile and forum backlinks.

Anyone have any views on this?

Thanks,
Seamy

    No, you don't have to.
However, if you WISH to leave a comment on someone elses blog (to participate in conversation) then there is nothing wrong about it.

Your gut instinct is correct. Blog Comment Backlinks and Web 2.0 Profile Backlinks are bottom of the barrel, risky, overall not the greatest backlinks. Why get a Blog Comment Backlink if you could get a link on the actual blog? Forum backlinks are decent but they should not be designed to be backlinks. They should be designed to be a source for direct traffic from the viewers of the forum. Any "backlink" that you wouldn't build yourself, don't get! If you think it's low quality, as you put it "crap" (assuming the missing letter is "A") then steer clear.

    Hi Seamy,

I would say that you should try blog commenting and forum posting, however use these sites not just to put backlinks but to also get direct traffic and perhaps branding. Usually I market to these sites to impart my knowledge. I do not have to optimize my links to these sites. A simple url can do. As long as your comments or forum posts are relevant and good, people automatically clicks your link and you get good direct traffic.

Well, it's not a very good idea... However, these are the EASIEST nofollow backlinks that you can get... So, just do not OVERDO this... 5-10 comments per week are ENOUGH! Write ALL those comments MANUALLY and ONLY on RELATED blogs!

That's a pretty good rule of thumb for creating Blog Comment Backlinks.

I like the type of backlinks from the corresponding article content niche, backlinks from Wiki site, backlinkcomments on the pagerank site.

There are many types of variation backlinks, you can choose according to your likes.

Quit worrying about Google and focus on marketing. If your blog comments serve a marketing purpose, leave them. If not, don't waste your time.

Blog comments are a horrible way to build backlinks. The problem with them is you cannot control whether or not the blog is moderated. Over time, the page could end up filled with nothing but spam or worse. Now you have a link along with a bunch of links to warez, gambling, and porn sites.

That is why I would never point blog comments to a site I care about. If I was going to, I would only use extremely popular sites (most of them do not allow links though), that you can feel relatively confident are always going to be moderated.

You have to build manual blog comments none of that automated SPAM shit.

I can usually find 2 or 3 high PR pages that provide good content and excellent traffic but no SPAM (99% of the time the comments are moderated).

What other backlinks can I use for variation? I've got web2.0s, article backlinks, press releases and private blog network links. Is this enough variation? I have a twitter, facebook and linkedin page for each money site.

try tomake backlinks via comments bu don't do in excess.comments are needeed for overall backlink building process.try to give genuine response in the comments rather non-productive views just to get a traffic of 10-15 visitors.if you will give you genuine response it also helps the blog owner to pay ore attention on you.

Backlinks from blog comments still retain some value for SEO, but they are not as important as they used to be. Now, meaningful comments on blogs do actually contribute to building relationships (for instance, you can ask for a guest post after you've been commenting for a while). And as other posters pointed out, blog comments drive additional traffic to your site. So, improving online exposure, building relationships and driving traffic are probably the most prominent things blog comments are useful for.

Blog comments also helps to build good backlinks, if you build dofollow backlink which is a added advantage for your webpage.

I would think that any backlink when done properly will be of some benefit to your website but if done wrong can hurt.

I use blog comments and forum posting to get some backlinks myself but it is not something that you have to do.

It is not a must to have blog comment links to your website for link profile variation. In fact what is the use for spending energy and time to create nofollow links to your website as the part of backlink building process. However, I don't mind leaving my links with my name when I comment a blog (genuine comment).
