Hi guys,

Just about to start my first site in about a year and i would like to ask you warriors whats your standard on-page SEO these days ?

Do any of you get your keyword in..

H1, H2 , H3
First sentence
Last sentence
Bold, italic
Alt text in the image

All that looks abit much these days so i`d love to hear what your thoughts are after the lastest Penquin/Panda updates.

thanks

These days I would be careful not to over-optimize your pages. Keep it simple and design the page for the reader rather than for a search engine.

Of the factors you suggested I would put your keyword in the H1 tag and as the alt text of an image. You're also gonna want to have the keyword in the page title and meta description.

This resource from MOZ is good for getting a brief overview of onpage factors without overdoing it:

if you use Wordpress for your site, i would recommed SEO plugin to optimize content

Generally, use keyword/phrase at least 3 times in a post (in the first sentence is a must), put keywords in SEO title, meta description, page URL, article heading and alt text of the image.
    Bold, italic doesn't matter really and i doubt about H1, H2 , H3

Having your keyword in an H1 tag stills seems to carry some weight. I wouldn't worry about having it in H2 and H3 tags purely for SEO purposes though.

these things are pretty irrelevant at this point. If your search keywords appear in title and page content then you're good. everything else is basically hype and a waste of time in terms of on-page seo.

No one can be sure for certain how much weight those header tags (H1, H2, H3) carries in terms of SEO but I would definitely put my main keyword in the H1 tag. I would also put any heavy javascript codes at the bottom of the page so my page loads faster.
