Speeding up WordPress

Does anyone have any good sources for speeding up WP?

According to Google my homepage load time is 70-75 secs, while my competitors load time is 85-90

I have tried different themes, I have reduced pictures, I have added WP-cache etc, but seems like it's not helping much.

I'm running on hostgator, but I'm not planning to change my host at the moment. Just trying to tweak my WP to the maximum.

Let me know if you have any good suggestions or recommendations.

Just run a scan on google insight page speed tool:

    Here's the results:

(H)Server resources from a consistent URL

The following resources have identical contents, but are served from different URLs. Serve these resources from a consistent URL to save 1 request(s) and 212.5KiB.
The following resources have identical contents, but are served from different URLs. Serve these resources from a consistent URL to save 1 request(s) and 84.6KiB.(H) Enable compression

I compressed my images (JPEG), but it's still showing that some css files should be compressed. However, I have no idea how can that be done.

Compressing the following resources with gzip could reduce their transfer size by 202.6KiB (70% reduction).
    etc.. (pretty long list)

    (M) Defer parsing of javascript
    (M) Leverage browser caching

    and so on..

I have also faced this problem .
My blog was on Wordpress and my score was 72/100 . But now I am on blogger and my score is 92/100 despite of having all images and widgets .

Remove anything unnecessary from your WP site. That includes pictures, themes and plugins. Also install WP Super Cache - this will give you a boost.

WP super cache is installed (As you can see, I already mentioned it in my OP)

The list that "strategic seo" gave is quite worthless. Most of the plugins on the list are outdated without much reviews/feedback. Not much help.

      But thanks!

For WP Super Cache, consider enabling this:

Use mod_rewrite to serve cache files.

Back up your .htaccess file as enabling this feature will clobber any custom edits you made there.

Also, check to see if you have an error log file in your root directory. I had a file that was 18MB in size. After I addressed all of the errors, I deleted the file and saw an instant speed bump.
