We started to advertise through bing ads , and looking at the analytics , most the clicks or referrers are coming in from sites never heard of . When we ran campaign on google ads , we were seeing a great conversion rate , same ads when posted , don't see the conversion .- Any thoughts?

Google ads showed less clicks but high conversion - if we had 100 clicks , about 20 registrations

Bing ads when it shows 400 clicks , only 1 sign up ...

My gut feeling is I am seeing all noise ...
Look forward to hearing what others are saying ...

  • Slimads,

I think it matters less that you have never heard of the site that is sending traffic and more that the site is relevant to what you are advertising. Its interesting that you say you’re having more success with Google ads. Perhaps the configuration of the Bing account is not the same as your Google one? If all is equal, I would move back to Google. Keep in mind that paid advertising is Google’s bread and butter and its one thing they do really well. Bing is an extension of Microsoft and (while they may be ok in the online ad realm) in my view they are kind of like little brother.

    Best,

    Shawn

Interestingly , the sites bing is sending traffic are those that are place holder sites , much like the godaddy domain name landing pages ... Sure I will be moving back to google . LInkedin is too expensive . I pretty much imported google ads and have the same settings. Also there is no way to set which sites we can show our ads on bing unlike google ..

Bing and Yahoo use a lot of "third-party" sites for their "network ads" and tons of them are garbage sites that send bots at your site. We tried that kind of traffic once with them and the conversion was horrible to say the least. It was so obvious in GA and Statcounter that this was phony traffic.

Google also has a LOT of crap in their 'Partner Network.' I've been amazed at the low quality traffic and sites they allow in there. Be wary of this type of traffic and always analyze it carefully.
