Submit your site to social bookmarks using your selected keywords / tags, post in forums, submit articles, etc... there's a lot of things you can do..

no... just enter the keywords without quotes. It will be treat the same as if you added the link manually yourself using the a href syntax.

Choose the keyword, start submitting your site to directories, social bookmarking sites. Do some do-follow blog commenting on relevant sites.

Be sure you get backlinks from relevant and high pr sites.
    Good Luck

What happens if the sites aren't "relevant"? ... and how does one know if google feels the site is relevant?

Seems to me Angela Edward's work is day by day proving the "relevance" factor easy to overcome by quality PR backlinks - in quantity.

Links from relevant pages carry more weight and help you in SERP ranking. If you add relevant anchor text to your backlink you are increasing the relevance of that page to your anchor text.

If it's just one link with relevant anchor text it helps, but it's much better if there are other on-page relevance factors and inbound links from other relevant pages. More relevance is better, but any relevance helps.

You can use Angela's backlinks as much as you want, if you don't add relevant anchor text you won't see much improvement in your SERP ranking. By adding the relevant anchor text you are influencing the linking page's relevance.

If you want to know which pages Google finds relevant, just do a search for the keyword and the SERP will list pages in order of relevance and authority. If you want see what keywords are relevant for a particular page then use the Google Adwords Keyword Tool, it will list keywords sorted in order of relevance.

          Good Reply - thank you.

Let me then ask another question or two as perhaps I have been mistaking this general term ... relevant to mean something different than that of what SEO's mean. That said ...

          1. When I backlink - 9 out of 10 times its with anchor text of my long tail keyword phrases I want to be found for in a href html text link - like so:

          <a hrrrrf="mykillerdomainDOTcom">my keyword phrase<//aaa//>

          2. Its not just a FULL URL to my site kinda link.

          3. Many times the sites I use allow you to surround your links with other relevant text etc ...

          4. How relevant is relevant? If the site is themed or based on say the Tattoo and Piercing community, and I post a comment relating to insurance in relevant anchor text as in the 1st example, and the site is a PR7 site ... but I place a similar or same anchor text link on the PR2 Insurance brokers forum ... what has more juice? Im thinking the PR7 sites link.

So my point is ... relevance seems relevant to several factors, and I have been searching for something other than MANTRA being repeated over and over again about links from "relevant" sites being the end all be all.

Stepping back from the relevant site theory [ or it very well may be a fact that I havent read or discovered yet ] for just a moment ... it doesnt seem very natural at all that one would gain links from ONLY relevant sites, but "natural" linking on the web is just the opposite. varied / random and sometimes with irrelevant content partners.

Just thinking outloud not saying Im right or you or anyone else is wrong.

          Peace,

          Steve

Good point to raise, and not as clear cut as that. It depends on some factors.

Yes - the PR7 page has more juice to give out - but what if it links out to 100 pages? The link juice is quite diluted then.

The more relevant PR2 site that say links out to only a couple of sites, may well have more juice to give out (as its not so diluted), plus its more relevant, so other on page factors of that site will help.

Also, going back to the PR7 - if the site is PR7, then the internal page that links to you may well be a much lower PR.

If however, the actual page that links to you is a PR7, that is much better

Exactly! and your reply speaks to my point in an even broader scope ...

There's hella lot to this backlinking thing ... and the relevant this or that or whatever is just one factor among many that determines a links "JUICE"

That said .. get a bunch

How to get a good back links
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[760568].message }}
  • Article Submission - Write good headlines and incorporate links in your author box
Social BookMarking - Again submit good titles and descriptions
Social Networking - create a presense on the top sites and control your keyword linkbacks
    Advertising
    Blog/Site Commenting

Basically any method you can conceive where you can create your own links (not spam) on sites that value your input. Then it's up to you to decide how to link back to your own sites.

Actually this is not reply, but really a question. I'm not sure where I need to post this question. So I put it here. I'm sure someone will tell me where this question should be posted. Thanks an advance.

I received an email from a webdesigner/consultant & she wants to backlink to my site. I think is great! I have all the details how she wants this setup.

My question I would like to link back to her site also. How do I go about doing that I don't want to look like a total dum-dum when I email her back. Please help? Thanks.

Use the keyword in the hyper linked text is one way. Also having the content linking back to your site relevant, is also important.

I think you have to have more DOFOLLOW Blog comments as well as more social bookmarks on delicious & digg. That will be more helpful for you to get more traffic. Evenif delicious site is NOFOLLOW, there you can get more traffic. However, Digg is DOFOLLOW.

You can also use software like SEO Elite (if you own it) to look at the backlink structure of your competitors websites, and other relevant sites in your niche.

This will provide you with a stack of information about who is linking to who within you niche, and how many backlinks (and the quality of these) that the top site has.

You can then use this information to approach these sites and request backlinks to your site from them, in addition to acquiring backlinks from forums, blog posts, article submission, etc.

    Hope this helps.
    Simon.

The one question I always ask when starting a link building campaign is how many links do you need!

Only by answering that question can you move on to getting the links you need in a cost effictive (time is a cost) manner.

I have just done a blog post on my traffic Secrets 101 blog going through the same subject.

    Kind regards

    John

When yo make a post, see that the URL and your keyword are bounded together(very close). And if possible see that you link the keyword to the site.

  • You should include your keywords in the anchor text of the back links. This is very important if you want to rank high for the keywords. As far as getting back links is concerned there are many sources. Social media sites work well for back links.

there should be a ton of blogs related to your niche. I'd suggest finding dofollows and trying to contribute constructively. You should be able to include your links and keywords when commenting.
