    There used to be a way to add free sites. I can't locate the info right now.
    Perhaps you cannot do that anymore.
    At first I thought you said free blogspot blogs, which are really easy.

    Switch to free blogspot, no problems. On many fronts.

    you can install webmaster tools and analytics on free wordpress blogs.

    tools> available tools. Then you can place the code there.

    You should know simple stuff like this already, considering you're an "SEO Expert"

    You need to verify your domain ownership to start using analytics. So a free site may not allow you to do so.

    There used to be a possibility to add your GA code to the header of a free-hosted WordPress blog, if I remember correctly. But now I can't find it.

    tech 84 is right, though. There is Webmaster Tools verification available now. Not as good as Google Analytics, but gives you an idea.

    To set it up, you need to go to the WordPress dashboard, and then go to Tools >> Webmaster Tools Verification. Just click on the question mark and you'll get instructions on how to proceed.

    Copy the code from the Google Analytics and over the WordPress site and look out for the code like
    <head>............. </head> once you found that one out put the code obtained just before closing the head

    <head>
    ......
    .........
    .........

    --Put the Analytics code over here--
    </head>

    Once done head over to the Google Analytics and Check if the code is working good or not ! If you have done everything correct then "Tracking Code Installed" should appear. And now you can check the number of visitor appearing over your site.
