Is it better to have a page with say pr3 and no backlinks pointing at it or a page with pr 1 and 250 backlinks pointing at it. Which page will give the stronger backlink to my money site?

Thanks,
Seamy

PR has to originate from somewhere. Internal pages that have external links can pass PR to other internal pages, so you might not necessarily find external backlinks on some internal pages.

A page with no backlinks and having PR may drop in the next update. Backlinks is essential for maintaining PR too.

Agree with you. Moreover the PR should be FAKE now just before the update... If you don't have a single backlink, you can't have a PR different from N/a

I regularly buy websites with PR and I really care about backlinks. A PR site without a handful of backlinks can loose its PR in ablink of an eye.

    PR always comes from somewhere.

I thought there was many factors which govern the PR of a site. Such as hits, onsite factors etc. Is this not true?

PR flows through backlinks. The only "onsite" factor that can influence PR is internal links, but that just goes back to backlinks.

Traffic, content... means nothing for PR.

I would like to suggest you that the second one is much better than first site.

For personal experience it is better to have backlinks as this is the link juice that flows to your site.

People need to remember that the "PR" of a site is always old and out of date. And we haven't had a PR update in forever. So what ever PR the site has will have probably changed by now. It is much better to check the backlinks and their quality to see how much the link is worth.
