Free Press Releases Worth It?

Hey all,

I wanted to utilize press releases to help out my rankings but I am only able to use free press release sites right now since I am tight on cash.

Do you guys think it is even worth the time using free press release sites or can they still be of value? I don't want to waste my time writing one if a free press release probably isn't going to help much anyway.

    Google discounts links from those sites imho. Plus if you're not actually putting out real news, you're just spamming.

    Press releases can help with SEO but the need to be picked up by other sites to obtain that benefit. The paid services (like PRWeb) are going to get maximum exposure to your press release. The free sites will offer negligible exposure most of the time.(you get what you pay for)

    You can test a free site's distribution by looking at a press release already on the site and doing a google search for the press release headline to see how many sites are listed. Good luck!
