Hello Everyone,

There are many online tools that can play a magic in improving Alexa rank such as alexaboostup but if a webmaster places his site in these auto surfing websites or Alexa boosters then is it possible that Google ranking might go down.

Please share your experience and knowledge.

Thank You

Don't know why anyone would waste time boosting Alexa ranking, but if you did go through with this, how would Google know?

What is the appeal of boosting your Alexa rankings? (I guess, aside from trying to flip a site. In which case that's a pretty dirty tactic.)

Alexa ranking is meaningless as it only takes into account people who have the toolbar installed. The only niche where it might be more accurate is IM as a lot of IMers have the toolbar installed. As far as website value I think buyers tend to look more at PR than Alexa ranking anyway.

Alexa does not only take into account those that have any toolbar
installed. That would make alexa even more meaningless than it
        is now.

I always say it's 100% meaningless, but not really. It's the only
way a lot of sites can gauge anything against the rest of the world.
In that case, it may have use, but not anything past a hmmmm
        factor.

If you think alexa ranks the top sites via a toolbar, think
agian. They would be laughed off the planet. Who knows where
the real world cutoff is? 1,000? 5,000? As you get further and
further away from the top sites, the data is, in effect, very
        loose.

Why is the data so limited in comparison with other tools then? Not trying to be argumentative I'd really like to understand a bit better how it works. I had always heard that they took the visits from people with the tool bar installed and extrapolated from that data.

Everyone who has responded to this thread has totally deviated from my original question. I repeat my question was not to know whether we should check Alexa or not but my question was will there be any harm to Google ranking if we use some automated tools such as alexaboostup to boost our Alexa rank. Please stay on the topic and do not go off the topic and now please share your views keeping the original topic in mind.

    Thanks

Why do Dodgy SEO care so much about Alexa ranking?
Is it being introduced as a Currency somewhere or something?

Using this type of tool will increase your bounce rate which is not a good thing.
