I was just checking my ranking manually by typing my keywords into google and decided to check on both Chrome and Firefox for some reason. Chrome shows me at page 1 and Firefox shows me at page 3 for the same term.

Why is this?

Chances are that either you are logged into Google somehow on one browser and not the other, or your results are cached. Once your results are cached Google will give higher rankings to the pages which you visit more frequently.

Try searching on Chrome with the "incognito window" for more accurate results.

Oh jeeze, thanks! That was the most obvious thing but somehow I missed it. I never log in to Google with Firefox. I feel stupid now.

You may have logged in Chrome. Or browser has history of what you search usually.

Clear browser history then check again..

You can also take help of keyword rank checker.

dear for this purpose u should check the google positions on Google Webmaster Tools which is one of the most authentic tool. and there are lots of other your can also find.
You know why the google chrome is showing your site at one page because you mostly open your site on the chrome and google saves your history.

one more thing if you want to check the keywords positions on google search go to the " incognito" window. on google chrome u can go there by pressing "ctrl+shift+n"
and also sure u are not login in any gmail account that time

Few years ago, I noticed my site ranking on the first page for the keyword "affiliate marketing". I was very happy but when I did a phone search, the site was no where to be found. He he! I later found out how results can be skewed if you log into your google account.
