Do You Consider Yourself An SEO expert?

I have been doing SEO for only a little under a year but I consider
myself a pretty damn good SEO.

After to talking to a bunch of other SEO its funny cause they all tell
you that everyone else is doing it wrong except them.

Reality is that when it comes to SEO there is not one way end all way
to rank... Everyone has their own input and twist to it but the
fundamentals stay the same.

So why did I write this post?

I want to see if there is any interested in having a SEO Rank Contest.
(no blackhat methods allowed)

I am really curious to see who the "best" SEO guru on Warrior forum is.

Your thoughts?

Everyone thinks they know it all and some try to prove it to people, then they end up embarrassing themselves. I like to think I'm good at it but I won't try to prove a point to anyone inn less I have proof to back it up with.

    Sounds like an idea that!

Well when it comes to SEO, there are many various techniques which all have different outcomes. Some positive in the long term, some not.

I consider myself an expert in long term SEO. I am better than most in turning a small failing site into a long term authority. But short term? Not my thing. "Link Blasts" and "Backlink Packages" don't appeal to me. Sure they work now for the next few weeks, but within months they become useless.

Each to their own, which is why there are many "experts" with different opinions.

This forum is full of "SEO experts"...

If you are a real expert then you can provide long-term rankings, if you are not; then you come back to forum and start whining about updates.

But IMO, SEO is a field when you always learn new tricks, techniques etc.. If it's working now, it might not work tomorrow etc.. You have to be ahead of the curve..

But honestly, the best place to find non-SEO experts is probably the WSO section. If you find a "SEO EXPERT" who has keyword stuffed signatures and he is offering you some link-wheel contextual WIKI links on PR9 pages then grab your hat and gtfo before it's too late.

      True That

I am not a SEO expert, but I know what works and understand why sites don't succeed. I really don't trust that anyone is a is an absolute SEO expert. There are people on this forum, for example, that I will take advice from or utilize services from e.g. MikeFriedman, Mike Anthony, yukon, nik0, and few more... Everyone should understand the basic fundamentals of SEO before hiring someone to work on their site(s). Quality/natural profiles are the way to go. Quality over quantity is an absolute IMO.

From my own personal perspective I would say I am an expert in my own little way for I have optimize my blog.

S.E.O. is a big platform and there are a lot of things that make up s.e.o., as well as different approaches in obtaining s.e.o. To site are keyword and how you position them within the body of the article, the use fonts to words or phrase, back linking to sites with high p.r., social bookmarking etc.....These are some of the many techniques that are being used.

The aspects mentioned above may bring positive results to some but may not work for others. The best thing to do is look for ways that suits you in achieving the best optimization to your site.

If you really want to have an SEO expert contest you'd want to see who can rank a site for YEARS.

Anyone can rank a site on the first page for a few weeks or months.

But real experts know how to keep them there

One thing I can't figure out

Why would a real SEO expert (if there truly is such a thing) or for that matter even a good SEO need or want to show an entire public forum all his methods and "tricks" for free in order to just have that forum declare him the best?

Where can I take this Forum title to a bank and cash it? Only thing it would give the winner is exposure which means those that already have it or don't need it wouldn't enter (certainly not at the expense of exposing their resources and techniques).

      (no blackhat methods allowed)

Why do I get the impression the definition of blackhat just changed.

Elite...... people here know how to check backlinks and reverse engineer rankings. IF your SEO tactics are based on running software like Senuke and GSa then it matters little if you expose them (because you have invested very little) but if you use better links and link resources there is no way you want to expose them in a public contest.

Its not going to happen because the better SEOs are not going to join the contest and so the contest won't really say who is the best

By the way this goes beyond buying links or networks or anything like that. For example Backlinko does a bit of work contacting webmasters and using techniques to get legit whitehat links from the webmasters. I'm going to bet that he would not want to expose those webmasters to a bunch of WF people contacting them for links after they realize where he got his links from by checking his contest backlinks.

And elite.....link pyramids are NOT whitehat.

Yes ranking and keeping it there is part of the process.
I wouldn't call being on the top spots for a few weeks effective SEO.

SEO to be is about building a long term business not some fly by night tactics
    that have no longterm benefit.
