Indexing delays and Q's about G Webmaster

Hi, I'm a newbie, have a 35+ page high quality content site up. I found how to check my site with the "site:" query (thanks to WF!). About half of my pages have been indexed. Some pages which were published over a week ago are still not indexed. Choosing one of those pages, I tried several methods - a social bookmark, and a couple of things I can't remember now, that I found in WF. Nothing has worked. I am about to try the Fetch as Google option described in a WF post, via G Webmaster.

However, this Webmaster setup has me a bit puzzled on the verify ownership portion. I guess I am suspicious of anyone wanting to add code to my website. I can:
- upload an HTML verification file to my site
- do this at my name provider: "Insert the @ character into the hostname tab under Subdomain settings." with their code.
- add a metatag: "Add a meta tag to your site's home page."
- add an asynchronous tracking code to my G analytics account (I do have one): "Your tracking code should be in the <head> section of your page."

Any recommendations on which method I should use? My concern is that I don't really understand the repercussions of any of these methods.

Thanks!
