I would bet that the PR is not real. So just skip it.

      what you say about pr6?
      {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[8311068].message }}

A PR6 is probably not as likely to be fake since a PR6 can be bought for a couple hundred bucks but a PR8 would be thousands and possibly as high as $10,000+ - especially on someplace like flippa

Are you not checking your domains for fake PR before you buy them?

That having been said, there are thousands of fake PR6's for sale out there... but you can still find quite a few valid PR6's as well. Not nearly as many PR8's though.

  • Do whatever will generate the highest return on investment. If you have to buy content for your blog then that might not be the way to go. You should be able to sell a PR8 homepage link for upwards of $20 per month.

I am sure you are very experienced, but how have you evaluated that PR8 domain?

To get a PR8 you need an active link from a PR 10 site or a bunch of other high PR6, 7, 8, 9 link that will stay on the home page on the originating site.

Have you been able to verify these links? Don't want fellow Warrior's getting ripped off.

A true PR 8 "domain" would most likely not be expired.
If the domain really has expired, forget about it. It's
      done and done.

      Of course I'lll repeat myself:
What the frick are you taking SEO customers for?!?!?!?!

I pity the fools that continue to pay money to saps who can't
find there way out a paper bag....Last week I couldn't even
spell SEO, and now I is an expert with paying customers!

      What a world!

          I'm learning something also.

          To become a Doctor.
A Brain Surgeon, and I was thinking of doing a little Heart Surgery too. Would you mind if I came to your house next weekend and did a little

          Surgery practice on you?

Don't worry, I have practiced Surgery on many people before, and none of them had any complaints after. But to be honest they where dead so, If they where complaining I couldn't hear them.

One guy before he died put his hand up like this.

So as you can see clearly, he was giving me a 5 STAR Review of my Surgery skills.

          Friday good for you?

If I had to guess, he's probably telling you that you shouldn't be providing SEO to other people when you don't know it yourself.

You can really damage people's sites, their brands and worst yet - they trust that you know what you are doing. It's pretty clear to some of us that you aren't the expert you probably tell your customers that you are.

                HI godoveryou

I want to clearify one thing , I never write any where i am expert , i am newbie in SEO. I never say my customers i am expert to so please stop assuming about others.
To more clarify . i am a developer , i make site for my clients. now one of my client (2 months before )want seo for his site (with no charge), actually seo doesnt matter for his site , its just a portfolio site. he cant get any cutomers from his website.he know that and i tell him i will learn by doing experiment on your site, there is no commitment between me and him about results.

And i am on other side also intrested in learning seo , so i start digging in it , because for me its a expreince (wihtout damaging my clients).so i make questions here about pr etc.

That is a horrible way to check if the PR is real. PR checkers are easily fooled.

You need to analyze the backlinks. PR comes from backlinks. If the backlinks are not there, neither is the PR. I don't care what some PR checker tells you.

If the PR is real you could sell links on it for a nice sum of monthly recurring fees.

I buy a lot of high pr domain's and I can tell you this is more than likely "Fake PR". It might just redirect to a pr8 site.

In order to check if its real pagerank I do the following:
    1. Use MajesticSEO to check backlink velocity history to see if someone has temporarily inflated the pagerank
    2. Use The Wayback Machine to see what the website actually used to be. If its not stored in there then chances are its not a PR8 because Wayback would have crawled and stored backups regularly.
    3. Check WhoIs information for it...and other domains which are expiring which have high PR. As alot of the time the same dumb person has registered these fake PR domains in their real name and the WhoIs info comes up the same
    4. Check the WhoIs and see when it was last updated.
    5. Google info:mysite.com to ensure that your site is coming up
    6. Google it to make sure it hasnt been penalised and removed from Google's index
    7. Check the quality of backlinks pointing to the site, are they spammy or quality links
    8. Check the quality using Opensiteexplorer or MajesticSEO to see number of linking root domains

Hope that helps!!! Let me know how you get on

The discussion is going in wrong direction.

What if the pr is legit?

How would you utilize that domain name to get maximum benefit from that?

Pray. "Expired" is the key word. There's a slim chance the PR is real to begin with, very slim chance that even if it is real, it won't vanish anyways.

If the name is a good quality domain, build a serious business on it. If it's not, then put up something decent related to whatever your primary site is and link to that site to feed juice into it. I wouldn't sell links from it unless you want a lot of pissed off people once the PR drops or goes away. It'll be more likely to go away if you approach it with that mindset anyways, because you'll be less likely to focus on putting a quality site on it that will be less likely to lose the PR.

Come on, use some brains dude. An "expired" PR8 domain? Really?

Do you think Google just hands out PageRank? Any PR8 domain is a huge authority with thousands of backlinks, visitors, pages etc.

I think you've been punk'd with fake PR.

Whenever you see a domain for sale with PR 7, PR 8 label - save your money!

No one in their right mind will ever sell such a domain/website because they can't just do some senuke and xrumer blasts with high PA/DA blog posts backlinks to make the PR N/A to PR 8 and sell it on a "well-known for spam" webmaster forum.

Always do a domain check with Wayback Machine (That's not enough anyway).
