What Anchor Text Should I Use For Tiers 2 and 3

Hi,

I was wondering if someone can shed some light on the importance of using the keywords I am trying to get my money sites ranked for on tiers 2 and 3 of my link profile. Obviously I know to diversify my backlink anchor text (brand, generic, keyword) but I don't know if there is any benefit of using keyword related anchor text on any tier other than tier 1 which points directly to my money site. Has anyone carried out a case study on this?

    Sorry, no specific case studies here that only target that one factor...

    If I were you, I wouldn't worry about proving things too specifically and try to draw conclusions by tracking over small chunks of time (3-4 weeks) - as an example, you could build 1 tier, do 1 keyword link to your money site from the tier, and then build mostly brand/generic links to it... give it 3-4 weeks... check rankings... analyze... and then do the opposite, build a tier, do 1 brand link to your money site, build mostly keyword links and a few generics... give it 3-4 weeks... check rankings... analyze...

    However, with all that being said, these days it's super important to keep your anchor text really diversified, like you mentioned - do that and you can pretty much do whatever testing you want.
