19,155 backlinks - non is indexed in Google?

Right now I'm still scratching my head about this.

Over time I've build with different services from the WF backlinks to my domain.

We ranked first page, #3 and #4 in the beginning, this was post Penguin, Panda. I know that most of those links are not good quality links in Googles eyes.

I checked my backlinks today using 2 tools and while the total amount differs, the Google Backlinks show 0 in both tools.

Now, is that a bad thing when Google simply discounted all my backlinks?

Can I leave those as they are and just start to build new quality backlinks to my domain?

I'm indexed with my site, but disappeared basically for the best keywords.

I think this is a common problem if those links are coming from unrelated niches like forums and social bookmarks.. also web 2.0 sites? My site that is running for 2 years now never been posted in any social bookmarks and web 2.0 and all links are internal but still all links and pages are indexed by google. There are just a handful backlinks and it was done by people who loved some of my posts sharing those links in their blogs.

G, are you ranking anywhere within the first 10 pages of Google?

If not, there's a good chance that hardly any of your links are helping you rank these days - do you use any other SEO tools? If I were you, I'd pull up your domain in the site explorer tool over on https://www.majesticseo.com/ and get a good look at the links to see if anything can be salvaged/what's going on.

Hi Adie, that's most probably the case here.

vk3, I used Mayestic and don't know exactly what the results mean.

Looks like very few authority links.

When I run a search in Google for my domain, I can see about 8 pages indexed from my domain and 1'400 results in total.

I'm not in the first 10 pages anymore.

Point is that I don't know what to do with that s''ty link profile.

19,155 backlinks is most likely all junk (link blast).

That's most probably the case as the Backlink offers in here back in 2011 where based on quantity.

I ordered one package for 1 Million links or so in Banners and wherever you can imagine which are definitely all junk.

My question remains, should I just leave those as is and build new links or will Google punish me and ignore new links as I have those bad ones out there EVEN if they do not appear in Google?

    Yo G,

Hmm, there are plenty of links there... enough to judge that they've all lost ranking juice or your entire site has lost ranking juice (and is being filtered)...

Here's one other thing I would check:

    - do a brand name search in Google (without the domain extension); if you're nowhere to be found in the first 1-3 pages or so, there's a good chance you've been slapped hard with a penalty/are being filtered
    - if your brand is general or an EMD, it's a little harder to judge... but that's the main idea

Regardless, the way I see it, you have three options:

#1 - invest some more money into some high quality links (high PR, guest posting, etc) and see if anything pops back in and ranks... if so, you're in for a journey, but the site is recoverable

#2 - snag an aged domain as a shortcut and rebuild your site... you'll start over, so to speak, but the aged domain will help give you an instant boost in the rankings (however, you don't want to pick up another domain that's been hit with a penalty, so you'll need to do similar research to make sure the aged domain is healthy, will be able to rank with no problem, etc)

#3 - start over completely and register a new domain... it'll take time to get back into Google's good graces (age, authority, etc), but you'll know with near 90%* certainty that you're fresh, new and good to go

    * = odd side note... I registered a domain within the last few months that I *thought* hadn't been registered before, but failed to do further research on - long story short, it never ranked... I took a look back and noticed links had been built/a previous site had been established in the past... morale of the story, always research your domains to judge ranking health!

Great advice, will go and take a look at this.

With #2, I guess a domain forwarding from an expired high PR site would also do some good to my site if it's not filtered.

Goog news, went to pagewash and opened a proxi Google search, here's what I got

So I'm not hopelessly buried I guess as I'm #1 for a generic search for my brand keyword.

Funny is that my Blog doesn't appear here, but he does if I search for my domain name.

Whatever, getting together high quality backlinks should help me to get back I guess.

Can I outsource those as I'm out of time, there are a few WSO's out there for quality links.

Yo G, thanks for the kind words.

#2 would be more about "starting over" with a new web property to drive traffic, rather than 301ing (redirecting) it in - 301's are nice to play around with, but I prefer to have more control over the links instead (rather than relying on a 301 that "may or may not" lose ranking juice over time)

Hmm - well, it's kind of a tough diagnosis from this point on without getting really in-depth... beyond doing more research into the actual types of links/what might have happened, at this point (if you have extra budget), I would pick up a few link services (mid-priced, permanent, high PR backlinks... or some guest posts) and see what happens (IE, see if you can jump back up in the rankings for keywords you knew you were ranking on before... might be worth pursuing further)

What's frustrating is, I still have a few sites like this too that seem to have lost their "authority oomph" in the rankings... it's always hard to tell exactly what happened, but more than likely it's due to link loss or links being devalued/taken into account less these days...

Apologies for not having some more concrete to suggest - test, track, analyze... then make a decision to build a new site or try to resurrect this baby further... good luck!

    Hey vk3, thanks again.

Those words already helped me a bit to believe that not all is lost.

That was a 3k a month business before the damn slap, it's really a pain in the butt.

Will see what I can do and if there are some signs of recovering I will com back here, OK.
