301 Redirects from Google Sites Hosted Server?

Looking for input on how to do 301 redirects on a site hosted by Google Sites. Google Sites does not allow redirects internally and there is no htaccess file.

Any suggestions on how to get around this?

A "friend of a friend" came to me and they recently had their site redesigned by a guy using Google Sites (why in the world I have no idea). Since they went live, they are losing tons of money. I checked their Analytics and 36% of their traffic is getting 404's and traffic volume is done 25% since the switchover. The website is about 25% of their overall business and they are hurting.

I need to redirect hundreds of old links (old site was basic html) to the new and crappy designed Google Sites website.

Can this be done at the registrar level or through webmaster tools? I have always either used the server itself via .htaccess or through cpanel, both of which are not available with Google Sites.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
