Hi All..
How would Google view the moving of content from one domain/website to another. Say I had one site that "MAY" be penalized.. can I just move the content to a new site/domain..? It's not duplicate content because it only exists in one place..( just not the same place )..
My instinct tells me this is too good to be true, but what are your thoughts..?

It didn't work for me a year ago. I had several penalized sites. But maybe I wasn't patient enough. You should deindex your old sites first and then find good relevant links to your new site. But no guarantee at all.
IMHO it is easier to pay a good copywriter to re-write your old content for the new sites. This is what I would do.

  • Mrgee,

In theory this seems like it would work although adgaro raises a good point. You should move the content then wait for the old URLs to fall out of SERPs. You should also avoid redirecting old URLs to new ones.

All that being said, if it was the content that got the site penalized in the first place, you might want to find a different strategy.

    Best,

Yes, IMO de-indexing your old urls first before moving the contents to the new ones will be a good step to go with. This way any chances of having duplicates contents will be eliminated.
