Number of Backlinks or Uniques IPs

Hi,

Once you have a backlink off a site/IP how important is it to have more than one link? Say for example forum backlinks. I know they aren't the most powerful but ones from related forums do seem to work ok.
Does it make a lot of difference if you have a few posts on a forum with your backlink in the signature compared to making 4 posts a day on that forum so you end up with hundreds?
I'm just trying to work out the best use of time.

      So are paid links but people use those 2, in fact most link building is against Google terms. I know there are more powerful type links but it doesnt look very natural if you whole backlink profile is just full of high PR links.

    I still see, most of the people are using anchor text in forum signature and they are getting benefit as well.

    The thing is you have to maintain natural stuffs, more importantly, you get some traffic to those anchor texts which makes it more powerful backlinks.

    I have also read about Google's Guidelines on forum signature. But as many people are still getting the benefits, so you may also use anchor text in forum signature. But quality matters.
