adsense placement advice?

Hi guys.

Since I'm limited to 3 Adsense spots I've set it up with one ad on the side bar on the Word Press layout, and two more ads show up on posts/pages.

However, I'm not seeing very good rates, so I'm wondering should I move all three alotted spots to the main Wordpress layout, or maybe have two on the Wordpress layout and one in the actual post / pages?

    What kind of CTR are you seeing? Also, have used a heatmap tool yet?

    Generally speaking, I seem to get the best CTR and #'s when only using one unit after the first paragraph of text - this keeps the ad above the fold.

    Also, I believe, for this to work best, your niche has to be pretty specific... so the ad that shows is ultra-targeted to the viewer - give something like this placement a shot and keep testing.

    my CTR is 0.53. My main (site-wide) ad is located on the left sidebar, and the two on the posts/pages is located at the top (under the title) and at the bottom (above the share options)

    Where can I find a heatmap tool?
