Hi. As of right now this post had zero comments but 4874 trackbacks for links:
Redknapp y Allegri hablan del cabezazo de Gattuso « Eurocopa de Francia 2016

Most of these trackbacks go to the homepage. How are the SEOs getting a trackback to the homepage of the linking site? For example, Number 2150 is to the homepage of "Denver Car Accident Lawyer". I guarantee you that there is no link to this blog from the homepage of the lawyer.

    Yukon,

I found it by looking at backlink profile of zanerhardenlaw.com. Apparently this is a major component of their SEO strategy.

I see your point. However, they now rank in the top three organic results for personal injury attorneys in Denver, CO, and only did so recently. So, although nofollow, Google is still giving credit and boosting their results in hyper-competitive niche of personal injury attorneys in a metro area.

Do you have better SEO strategy for personal injury attorneys?

I don't do these types of links on purpose but I did notice an old blog post I made years ago was picked up by an SEO plugin on a vBulletin forum (same niche). I did some research on the vBulletin SEO plugin (it was listed in the same niche forum footer) & found that If I create a link on my site, then click the same link & go to the same niche forum (example) then it would give me a backlink. The way the forum finds out that the link exist is by following the referring URL, the page on my site that includes the forum link/URL.

That old blog post I made years ago was on a blogger site, so I had 5 trackbacks on this one forum page because blogger uses country TLDs, so anytime my traffic followed that link on my site back to the same niche forum, it created a new trackback as long as it was a different country TLD (one web page/link on my site).
