Sticking Adsense on Private Blog Network a bad idea?

Hi

I have a few blogs in a network, they are quite active, in as much as I update them regularly with decent original content. They get a trickle of traffic. I started to use them to provide the odd high PR link to my other sites.

Is sticking adsense ads on a few of them a bad idea? Will it cause a footprint?

For just a "trickle of traffic" (potential income/clicks) I wouldn't do it. If those sites are providing you with high PR links to other sites, YES there would be a footprint by the adsense ads coming from the same code. I wouldn't do it but thats just me

My opinion exactly. If you're using your network as a source of backlinks to rank other sites, then use it just for that. If you add Google AdSense to them, then you're tying them together and adding a footprint. If you want to get in the AdSense game, start some sites that you devote just to that purpose.

    Thanks

I usually just throw on a couple of adsense ads on most sites I build out of habit, so now it kinda looks weird to not have any sort of advertisement on a page. I also think visitors do expect some sort of advertising when they go to a site. But, if it's a potential footprint on a PBN, then I'll steer clear.

If you think it seems a little odd that a site would exist with no advertising/monitizing, that's understandable. How about this. Add a banner or button ad on a site that directs to a friends site (as a little favor). That won't leave any kind of footprint (it doesn't lead to another site in your network), to any visitor (like me, if I didn't know about this conversation) it would seem like you're getting a few bucks for an ad, and you score some points with a fellow website owner.

Yeah... If I were to create a blog network, I wouldn't put anything related to Google on it.

That would be a crazy idea, those networks are suppose to represent authority links to your money site.

If you ain't ranking then you have to re-strategize.

Not clear on what you're referring to when you say "that would be a crazy idea." A private blog network doesn't have anything to do with "authority sites." The sites exist only to supply backlinks to other sites. I've got a private network of well over 100 sites. None of them are anywhere close to being an authority site. None of them get great traffic. They are each sites with some Page Rank, and have some links to other, money sites. None of them make any money, as they aren't intended to. And, it works. They feed money sites with high PR links. Nothing more, nothing less. Most people who have private networks don't attempt to make those sites authority sites, and they don't attempt to monitize those sites.
