Should we stop worrying about whether a link is dofollow or nofollow?

Hi,

The pool of dofollow link opportunities is shrinking rapidly. This should eventually lead to the Google algorithm reducing the importance of dofollow links in its calculations. Does this mean we should stop worrying about whether a link is dofollow or nofollow and just concentrate on providing quality content? Google spiders may already follow no-follow links. Has anyone carried out a case study using no-follow links only?

Any ideas?

Yes, stop worrying about whether a link is do-follow or not. You may get more link juice from a do-follow, but any link from a relevant site/page will help you in the SERPs.

Google is just concentrating on natural links now-a-days. Quality contents and quality links are matter now. Back links only from do follow sites make a site suspect in Google's eye. So no follow links are also important though they have not much effect.

I'd love it if there was an option to nofollow forum signature links here at WF and on other IM/Webmaster forums. Just to use them for traffic purposes and not anything to do with SEO would be a great thing IMO. Who do I contact here to put in my suggestion?

Yes - you shouldn't worry about it, but no... dofollow matters more.

So for linkbuilding - go dofollow, but in general don't worry about it.

You can still rank sites with nofollow link SPAM. It's working as well as it's always done.

I would say don't worry about it that much because Google will be looking for a mix of dofollow and nofollow links. So for most manual links just worry about how much direct traffic you can get or how you can build a presence online. Now if you're paying for a link or exchanging them then you can worry about dofollow.
