Broken Link Building for Business Sites

Hi,

I have been looking into broken link building and the concept seems really good. My only thought is is this technique only really workable if you are trying to get the webmaster with the broken link to promote a blog/information site of yours?

What I'm wondering is if you e-mail a webmaster, tell them about a broken link and ask them to link to your site and your site is quite obviously a business, whether it be your own business or a clients site you are doing SEO for, do people find they still get any success or is this technique only really viable if you want a link to something like a blog?

    Hey, thanks for the link. In fact it was originally a post of yours that got me looking into broken link building.

    So do you find that you do get some success when you are asking the person with the broken link to link back to a business site? I sometimes get the impression from blog owners that they only like linking to other blogs and things so it makes it a bit harder when outreaching for a link to a proper business.
