Pageview increases revenue decreases

Hello all,

My pageview had increased to 2k to 4k but the revenue did not increase, moreover the revenue decreased along with ctr.

I was happy to have been able to increase my visitors traffic and was hoping for increase in revenue but this did not happen.

I feel like google is adjusting the revenue as it remained almost constant(actually decreased). I have been closely monitoring the two analytics and adsense for months now and see that when ctr increases the cpc drops automatically. moreover, the ctr dropped too significantly. The cpc should be either be a constant or increase(as per post quality) but should not in anyway depend on ctr.

Whats happening? feedback please

Actually, the number of visits and views of your site does not determines to your sales the main factor is that maybe your products and services are not salable.

It is the first time I heard that visits and pageview does not count, anyway, I had good CTR before this happened. But the point is that I see significant statistics difference and wanted to know if anybody here has similar experience before.

You need to read up on Conversion Rate Optimization. More page views =/= more revenue if your conversion rates suck.

I also faced the same situation a month back upon changing my blog theme. When your ads CTR remains too low, Google decreases the CPC also (Smart Pricing). Change the ads position and try to increase CTR. CPC will automatically creep up after a few days...

Interesting it could be that when the CTR goes up the CPC goes down because people are clicking on lower priced ads. Or it could be people are clicking on personalized ads. When users are logged into Google it tracks their activity and many times will show ads related to what they have been searching for instead of ads that pertain to the website. Those ads may have a lower value than the ones you're targeting.

There are a million possibilities! It is hard to say what is wrong without seeing your data. Maybe the quality of the traffic you are getting is low, maybe your visitors are returning visitors and therefore are not looking to purchase anything. Maybe people are viewing your site for different reasons.... there are tons of possibilities. My best guess is that the quality of your traffic is the problem.
