Hello,

I changed my title tag for my home page from this structure: "Main keywords - secondary keywords" to "Main keywords - secondary keyword - brand". My rankings tanked and I panicked. I then changed it to "main keywords - brand" and it tanked even more. The initial change in title tag was two weeks ago.

Do I just have to wait for Google to fully evaluate the situation or is this something that happens sometimes when you change your title tags and now I'm screwed?

It's a case-to-case basis. There are sites that changed it back to the original title and they received good results but for some, things got worst. I believe changing the titles prompted Google for a re-evaluation of the site and there might be a possibility that they see you trying to rank fast with a new term.

    Hi,
If you change title tag then there might be a possibility to decrease ranks. So do not change title tag if it is needed. Use keywords in the title but it should be a meaningful sentence.
Do not make it just putting keywords.

I thinks you should try a sentence in title tag including you main keyword and brand name also. I will be work good for you.

You most likely need to get the Google bots back on your page to reindex the page. Check the Google Cache date & see when the last time Google cached the page.

Keep in mind cache date doesn't necessarily mean the bot hasn't already been back on your page between the cache date & the current date, still it's a good indicator of how often Google bots are visiting your web page.

Usually a few authority/quality links will keep Google consistently returning to your web page/s.

You need to give few days to get your new title indexed then you would be able to see actual ranking, or advantage/disadvantage.

Changing title tags too many times is not good SEO technique as title tag is very important while writing your title tag make sure that you are not going to change it in future.
