Purchased a site, any actions necessary

I just purchased a site from someone here on WF. It had a good exact match URL and good domain age.

The previous owner hasn't worked on it in quite a while.

So far I have found it in bing results, but not Google.

Is there anything I need to do to notify the search engines that the site is "under new ownership" or do I just make posts and let them figure it out?

Thanks

Michael

  • Michael,

One easy thing you can do is set up an account at Google Webmaster tools and submit the domain name along with all linked pages to be crawled.

Also make sure to go through the usual steps of setting up a sitemap, building some initial links and add some fresh content just to make sure it shows activity and Google knows where to find the pages.

Thank you both. I've done (or am doing) these things now.
