How do I know if CPM is normal or if I could improve it?

hey guys, is there any way, other than manual testing, to see if I could improve my adsense layout on my site? im making money but my ctr is a lot lower than i expected so im thinking moving some stuff around could be an improvement on earnings.

sorry, not going to link the site.....but im using 2 skyscrapers on left and right sidebars and a 120x240 ad randomly placed in the text of the post now. Im wondering if the skyscrapers format doesn't have as may niche-specific ads and if switching them to something else would give me a higher ctr....or maybe doing one skyscraper and one square ad on the other sidebar

I know manual testing might give me some data, but that would take quite a while and could potentially nerf my earnings in the meantime.

    Manual testing has the potential to "nerf your earnings" or skyrocket them to unbelievable heights. Don't be lazy and go give it a shot!

    I'd recommend all the ad units that Google advises on their create an ad page.

    The ad sizes Google recommends are also the ones most publishers are publishing their ads on.
