Hi,

Is it important to have the internal anchor text on the home page exactly match the keyword you are aiming for on the inner page it is linking to?

Thanks,
Dan

Google doesn't give you extra link juice or such if thats what you were thinking.

Although internal linking is necessary so that the link juice that is currently present on your home page can be distributed to the other pages.

So once again, NO NEW link juice is produced.

When homepage link juice gets "distributed" to other internal pages, does it decrease the value of the homepage?

It would be contrary to what you are saying.

If you link your home page with other internal pages then home page would receive link juice from other pages...

But I won't advise to use home page again and again as internal links, it should be natural.

Avoid keyword spam in internal links. Think user and view internal links as an extra way to help users navigate your site easier.

Thanks for the responses. I wasn't really asking about extra juice being created, just if it helps/makes a difference if the anchor text from your homepage to inner pages is the keyword you are aiming for.
Obviously within reason and not looking spammy, but the chances are the page it is linking to is going to be about your keyword.

You can have internal links with exact match keywords linking to right page with in the website having related keywords and while you are going for link building submissions, only prefer to link text with brand names.

    Hi,

Yes I know you can use the exact anchor text, what I am asking is is it beneficial to use the exact anchor text on the internal linking especially from the homepage?

Use internal links to help your readers navigate. Its retarded when you are reading an article, and you see the sentence "which i mentioned in my article about Payday loans a while back"

Then you click on the link, and you are taken to the owners homepage. Hmm, wheres the article, not here back to google.

You should use anchor text relevant to the article or page you are linking too, because if the person clicks on that link and likes the page, they may then sub to your list, buy a product, or share your article. People need to stop taking interlinking so seriously. I just think

They are useful, but use them how they should b used. Its all about your readers at the end of the day.

Relevant concise keyword on your internal linking is helpful to both the user and Google.

Putting long tail keywords as a link name would make your website look ridiculous to humans, who of course need to be the focus of your website, so should not be done.

    Build for humans.

Yes, it takes a certain amount of "Juice" from the page that links out, and passes that "juice" through the link to another page, but when it does so it actualy depreciates in power.. so lets say.... it takes 20 units of juice from the original page, and only deposits 19 units to the linked to page.
