I got a edu blog site called gelatinschool.com , which has Google PR3 but i found something fishy there, the site has ZERO backlinks according to Open Site Explorer...So, i am bit confuse about this site, it is legit or fake. Because they're selling this site ???

    There's something not right.

The domain had dropped at some point and the current record is just over a month old. I would expect PR0 with the next update.

...Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just set there.

I see 26 links from multiple domains for that site in OP that have a PR between PR1 & PR3.

Running SEOspyglass. Didn't verify any of those links.

Just another reason I dropped Open Site Explorer. I'm getting 31 links with Spyglass, live high PR links are as follows:

    PR3: 5
    PR2: 10
    PR1: 2

Ahref's is showing 284 backlinks from 69 domains, but if I recall correctly they don't remove deleted links so that number could be inflated quite a bit. I didn't do any other checks but it seems like a decent buy, depending on the price of course.

Someday I will give a longer explanation of the math behind PR.
PR is, in it's basic form, a logarithmic scale. Like sound levels.
You need a starting point. Zero is a starting point, not PR n/a.
If a page is indexed, it will not really have PR n/a. It will have
PR0, although it may take a while to show up. 0 is the starting
point in the log scale, but not what you think. 0 does not mean
zero, but the starting point. 10 to the zero power is one. The
zero is the log, the starting point. Hence, a page that has PR0
and has internal links, will then build PR by those internal links alone.

    PR0 does not mean PR=nothing.

So, a page with no external backlinks, in time, could theoretically
    get PR10.

Remember, the internet had to have a starting point. All sites at one
time, when google came up with this, theoretically all had PR0. But
then their PR grew due to the rapidly expansion of backlinks that
counted. So on day one, a PR0 site could have rocketed up to any
    PR.

Okay, I know this is way off topic, but it is to show you do not need
any external backlinks for PR to grow to a certain level.

Besides, any site that is worth a dang, and is indexed, has many
backlinks propagated automatically by sites that track the web.

One of the false statements about PR, is that you need higher
PR sites to get higher PR. Completely wrong. If that were the case,
no site would ever get to PR10. And when PR was "unleashed," all
sites had PR0. So how could they grow to PR9 or PR10?

For the most part, PR is still calculated on a pure math basis. What has
changed, is the formula that google uses to COUNT links that will go into
the formula. And, they have taken steps to even subtract PR.

You can never judge PR by the sheer number of external backlinks.
