Link Building Advice Needed

So, I could do with some help with knowing what to do.

Currently, every week I write a new piece of content and usually put links to my various services. For example, if I talk about Weed Killer, I link to my weed killer page. Wordpress then uses Pingler automatically.

But I should probably be using this content a bit more than posting it to my own blog.
Should I be submitting this content elsewhere, if so, where?
Are there other things I should be doing from a link building perspective?

Things that I've read on this forum are a waste of time:
- Directory Submission
- Social bookmarking
- Commenting on Blogs/ Post

So what is NOT a bad practice with link building now?

You can try web 2.0 sites that are effective even now, automated spam using software against these sites will not work but doing things manually will be more efficient.

Nothing is out form the market, but today we concentrate on quality rather than quantity. If you submit your website in quality directory, social bookmarking, or doing comments posting, it definitely helps you.

More great content, clever internal linking, and marketing stunts for viral tricks. Like "10 Most hideous something in your niche". Not that hard, and since you write new content often, tweak it for your goals: backlinks from different sources across the globe.

I appreciate your posts a lot guys. There is one thing that concerns me though.

Usually when I come on here, I get told to keep creating content, which is great advice. But really, I once wrote a blog on great tips to kill weeds.

It got 40 views from Google, one from Bing but my content isn't exactly great for sharing, unless you're really, really bored. I can appreciate it is, but it's what I do best! On this kind of level, it is worth keeping it going?

Blog commenting, article directories, web 2.0s, blog networks nothing is dead.

Penguin update does not focus on from where the links are built, the algorithm is just tweaked to weed out sites that have a disproportionately large number of keyword rich anchor texts, that's it and if you're why people still get a penalty that is because of using badly spun senseless content that Google can identify as spam.

Posting quality content is not enough to rank you except if the keyword has no single competition.

Backlinks still works but you have to do it right.

No doubt, spamming directories have stopped working but technique like real comment,
social bookmark, good press release, blogging and interactions, social media and owning your own networks is almost flawless and works like magic..

If you do little high PR bookmark it is still well worth as well as similarly you can concentrate on web 2.0 or contextual links which are in tread right now.

I'm not entirely sure what these terms mean.
So I build a network of websites, for example:
A Blogger Account, Webeden website and Wordpress blog.
Current, my Blogger is PR 1, my webeden is PR4 and Wordpress is PA n/a.

And link them all back to my website with different content?
This same principle applies to other websites?

Yes, you can do that. Your webeden website is a way to get high quality link to your site.

I found that you need quality article to post. Cause google determines poor-spun content, so it's best when your article is manually spun to at least 90%-100%. Success rates will rise. For social bookmarks - point only high pr to your site.
Sorry to seem slow, but i'm a farmer by trade and this new to me.
What do you mean spin an article? How do I do that?
I'm assuming I don't print it off and throw it in circles..

How can I get these social bookmarks and what are they?

I wrote a tutorial on one of my favorite link building strategies, check it out here: http://stellarseo.org/the-best-link-building-strategy-ever

This method works great so long as you take the time to make quality content on each of the pages.

Have you tried guest posting on a related industry website or blog?

Recycle the content by making a video and pod cast for your article.

Creating a infographic for picture hosting, web 2.0, and social websites.

Create a poll somewhere to get people to vote for the favorite method on weed killing.

Create a pdf version of your article or create a powerpoint slide upload them to document sharing sites.

Lastly you can create a html exe and submit it to software websites.

Spy on related websites where they get their links from and re-engineer.

If the above is done diligently it should get some related traffic well having some link back to your website.

If done properly with good link velocity and anchor text variety I believe it should be healthy backlinking, anyway that is my opinion.

    Good luck.

Social bookmarking and commenting on Blogs/ Post still works for SEO.

This depends on your targeted keyword which you target.

For commenting method, make sure to choose high quality blogs with higher page rank (and also higher traffic level) to leave high quality comment.

Don't use comment spamming software, this is useless for this time. Read each blogpost carefully then leave valuable comment.

Look at your situation as a funnel. Your website is basically at the bottom of the funnel. Typically the top of the funnel is larger than the bottom. What does this mean? It means you should focus reaching a larger audience just like at the top of the funnel. Focus on websites that have lots of monthly unique visitors that may be interested in your niche.

This is known as guest blogging if no one mentioned it before. Typically these types of sites that get huge traffic numbers will be very high in page rank and domain authority. For example, one of the sites that I personally guest blog for clients, the domain authority is 80+ and the they get over 1million unique visitors on a monthly basis. The client is in the health space and they get tons of referral traffic from my guest blog posts.

You have to look at this more than just getting a link. Getting a link is just the beginning, you want to get visitors to your site which will turn into money. And by focusing and guest blogging on websites that get tons of visitors is just having a free banner advertisement on their site but even better because its natural and organic.

If anyone has any more questions feel free to PM me anytime. I don't mind helping and sharing

Is there any software which can help me manage the blog comments. I mean it should tell me whether I had submitted comment to a particular blog earlier and was it accepted. Similarly I can track how many blog posts I have commented on using the tool itself.
Also with some option to find blogs (wordpress(self hosted and wordpress.com/blogger) for a keyword.

There are so many methods out there for seo. Some bad and some good. Remember, quality always beats quantity. One "relevant" link with good PR is better than a lot of low quality links. Guest posting on sites in your "topic area" along with social media marketing is a great way to build links. Plus creating content that people will automatically want to link to as an authority article after reading it, is key! Good luck with your SEO work!

What you just said looks very relevant. But it raises further questions:
      1) Good PR backlink - May be some blog/forum post has very nice content and has got good PR and if I post a comment with link to my website, will that be ok or it has to be within the main article content.. Pls. confirm?
      2) Most blogs allow nofollow links in comments. A nofollow link from very high PR page should also work or it has to be dofollow only?

      Thanks for these awesome tips.

I think you need a Facebook page about your topic/niche/website where you can post excerpts of your content, plus a whole lot of other related content to engage your readers. Half the world spends hours each day on FB (and not on your site) so you need a strong presence there.

I don't believe that anything in linkbuilding is "out" - the point is just to make it look naturally. Also, if you want to make a difference you need MORE content than once per week. Sorry, I don't mean to throw that into your face but once per week is maintenance mode and nothing for increase.

Social bookmarking is still very effective, if you do directory submission on high pr and relevant sites you'll get good and quick links.
Press releases is not that good it used to be but you can still get links.
