It seems like most of the threads on this section have something to do with link building. I thought we could work together to make this the master link building list. Below, I ask each of you to share your favorite link building method, tip, or trick as well as any results it has yielded.

Thanks Guys!

One of my favorite link building methods is tiered linking. I like to manually create web 2.0s as well as buy aged domains from auctions. Plugin some good content and you are on your way to ranking #1.

Agreed. Links that generate traffic should be a staple of any link building campaign. I like to use blog comments, forums, Q&A sites, and sites like StumbleUpon and Pinterest to generate referral traffic.

      What is your preferred method?

The answer really depends on what web property you are trying to rank.

For your money site, contextual and tiered backlinking works very well.

However, for authority para-sites such as Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Slideshare, etc., low quality blog commenting links can get these web properties to the first page of Google for low to moderate competition keywords.

If you take this route, you will not be wasting your time. I have been testing this for months and it is working. If you have a geo-targeted keyword, you can expect a page 1 listing in about a month with consistent backlinking.

Contextual links along with a mix of more generic terms like click here or read more etc.

I would say the links which were working till this year; will also work in coming years too. See there are some basic criteria for a link to be termed as good link. And no matter from where you are gaining the link, you need to satisfy most of the properties that a good backlink should have.

Would you care to tell us what you consider the criteria of a "good" link?

Yeah, Tiered Link Building is still one of the most effective SEO strategies that can help your site rank faster. Also, its important to make sure the site's content is of good quality, vary your anchortext to avoid overoptimization, and build links from different authority sites. The link velocity should also be taken into consideration.

Contextual Tiered Link building works great right now. Days of firing up sb and blasting thousands of comments are over. But I wouldnt really say it's harder these days. I found that in general you need much less backlinks.

Also lets not forget, youtube links works great too!

In my opinion what we are using all techniques will forward to future years also. but some more new concepts also would come.

For New Websites (Moneysites) drip fed links that have diversified anchor text (product name, brand name, your name, click here, check this out, www.wbsite.com, website.com, more info, read more, etc.) keep you safe. Then using High PR links with your focuses/targeted keywords as anchor text works well. Tiered links also work well. It is best to use sites that have page rank above 0.

For Authority sites like Youtube, Facebook, G+ anything goes. Ranking youtube videos can be done quickly using high pr links and comments, forum profiles, blog network links, wiki links and articles. I have had no trouble ranking Youtube videos for any midlevel competition keyword or below using just fiverr gigs and a Warrior for Hire gig or two. The key is having the right elements and structure of the video. Works great for local lead gen.
