How Do You Analyze Your Competitors For Keywords?

How exactly do you determine whether a keyword is low competition or not in the top 10 results?

Do you base it off of PR, # of backlinks, what type of links ect.
I've heard that big name sites like Amazon are actually easy to beat since they don't really optimize their pages.

So in general I'm just wanting to know how you determine a low comp keyword

I've had success with putting your keyword in quotes and if it's less than 50K you're good to go.

And if your competitor who's the number 1 spot, page is a PR 6 with a bunch of high PR relevant backlinks, are you still good to go?

That doesn't happen, only a little bit. There's a difference between keyword research and choosing a very specific product/model.

I built a custom solution that scrapes sites for LSI keywords in articles on a competitors site, and then automatically analyzes page one. That seems to work best for me, and helps me identify keywords I would most likely miss with the standard software.

So mainly you base it off of PR and DA to determine how touch it would be to rank?
