Hello guys have been doing affiliate marketing for about a year with little success. Spent about $2000 AUD with about $250 in return through one website. I am committed on this path that was sparked by my boss being a total asshole. I am keen to learn as much as I can however it has been frustrating at times but I am not going to quit I know that for sure. I have a grasp of building websites, finding the right keywords and analyzing competition, but the one thing that I have not understood too well is off page SEO, it is my weak link. I want to ask this forum is there anybody out there that is willing to take on a eager student who wants to learn about backlinking and how it needs to be done the right way to succeed. I would really appreciate your help and do whatever it takes.

    Saliboi1, if I was in your position, this is what I would have done.

    1. I will research how backlinking works. Google it.
    2. I will find the common denominator of all those different backlinking strategies.
    3. Then, I'll think of ways on how I can possibly come up with my own backlinking strategy that is better than the 'common backlinking strategy' I discovered.
    4. I will talk to a person I trust, and not just someone who will just steal my idea, and ask for his or her feedback regarding my 'personal backlinking strategy'.

    Back Link creation needs patience. There are various methods of back link creation. Forum Posting, Blog commenting, article submission, directory submission, social bookmarking etc. You don't need to follow every technique, just do 3-4 techniques as per your knowledge and time and you are done..Remember the Quality. Get links from High pr sites..

      back link is hard nowadays. posting on forum is futile! Most of them are nofollow. Has no effect on jacking up your PR. The only thing you may hope to get is some traffic from those links.

    I've been there before and struggled a lot. My suggestion is to try lead generation with PPC. Big markets, high payouts and you don't care about selling any products.

    Appreciate your help guys. Was looking for a mentor that could help me step by step. I have studied a fair bit, how this works today and this doesnt work, so much opinions, a little confused and frustrated thats all.

    I agree with Svetod. Get more experience in PPC. Start with Facebook - it's cheaper. You can try SEO when you have other online income. You can never be sure you will be successful in SEO.

    Building backlinks takes a lot of patience and routine work and the worst thing - no guarantee at all.
