Is it allowable to use h1 tags on just a small keyword phrase within a headline to increase density and significance?

For example:

Revolutionary <h1>Weight Loss Plan</h1> Lets You Lose Weight Fast With No Dieting, Supplements or Exercise!

You could format this with css so that the appearance is consistent. You could go even further and do this:

Revolutionary <h1>Weight Loss Plan</h1> Lets You <h2>Lose Weight Fast</h2> With No Dieting, Supplements or Exercise!

Or is this considered keyword stuffing?

Maybe an even better question is: Are the SEO benefits worth it?

    Hi David,

In answer to your first example - that would be considered ok really. Nothing too bad there, especially as you are styling it the same as the rest of the text.

Although I would still make the style different (bigger/bold) to the rest of the text that follows after the whole heading like below:

Revolutionary <h1>Weight Loss Plan</h1> Lets You Lose Weight Fast With No Dieting, Supplements or Exercise!

    Our blah, blah, blah

The second point is a bit more "dodgy".

The way I see you should use H1's and H2's are like you would be writing a normal document.

Your H1 should be that - the main heading on the page, with content related to the H1 following it. This backs up what the H1 is about and makes it more relevant.

You should then use a H2as your subheading - again followed by related content to your H2.

If you treat it like writing a normal document you will be fine. The second example you gave, doesnt make sense to a spider, or a human (even if you used CSS to make it look "normal".)

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for that, it's helpful. I agree that the second option is dodgy and not really necessary at all. I'd be better with an h2 subhead.

Rather than an <H2> use a <strong> tag and then save the H2 for a subheading
